First Published Article!

I'm so excited guys! My internship at OffBeat Magazine has been amazing and I have been doing a lot of work with them over the last month. I have done several interviews and album reviews. The other night I did a concert review with one of the most popular rock/punk bands in the south, Better than Ezra. They are originally from New Orleans and graduated from LSU. The members are in or around their 40's and they have been playing for years. You may know some of their work, their huge single was "Desperately Wanting" and they wrote Howie Day's "Collide".

Here is a youtube link to their music:

Jai

Hi family,
This weekend I stepped in for Aunty Gayle and helped Gung Gung make Jai. I didn't realize how long the process takes. He took some Jai over to Choy-Lewis...an adorable lady who was overly THRILLED to receive this coveted masterpiece. She said she 'freezes it and relishes it throughout the year'. Gung Gung was just as tickled to share it with her while praising her famous split pea soup that she gives him. They couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the other is. According to Gung Gung (who is always right) they have been friends for over 50 years! It was one of the most heart touching encounters I've been a part of.

Hey All Choys!!
Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day and also a Gung Hee Fat Choy!! As dad (gunggung) would correctly tell us it's really "Gung Hee Sun Yin"!! Wish we were there to celebrate with you all! Ron and I will be going out with another couple tonight for Chinese New Year's dinner. We've become good friends with a number of Cait's high school classmates' parents. So, we'll be out with one of those classmates parents tonight. We occasionally get together with them all at least once a month. Hey! When you get to be our age, and you move around alot, you got to make friends wherever, whenever and however you can. :)
Take care! Love and Miss You All!!
Lynn (Auntie Lynn to others)

SAINTS WIN SUPER BOWL!!!

The Saints won the 44th Superbowl last night! 31-17!!! Saints versus the Colts!

Some of my friends rented a Penthouse off of Burbon and my big sister in Delta Gamma, Monica, got her and I a separate hotel room to stay at nearby. People started getting rooms because all the cab companies were so hard to come by because major streets were closed down including St. Charles and Canal (two of the biggest in the city) and the police where stationed on every block. So we didn't want to worry about getting back to campus so late at night.

It was amazing, the city actually went crazy. There were people shoulder to shoulder all along Burbon, the French Quarter and everywhere in between. There were students from Tulane, Xavier, LSU and Loyola, and many Saints fans from all over the South as well as tourists from all over the country. Classes in local elementary schools, high school & Universities, where canceled this Monday and some on Tuesday. Even my work e-mailed all of us to not come in today (Monday) or tomorrow. Strangers were hugging all night, cross dressers ran around, men played trumpets and other instruments while walking around with boxes for money. It was an actual CITY celebration.
So since the major streets were on lock down, that meant that everyone was walking all over the place which resulted in a lot of fights and violence. This morning there was reported shootings resulting in 3 deaths. So yes, I mean the city went crazy.

But, the good news is we won, my friends and I are fine and I made it back to campus safe and sound this afternoon.
P.S. Sorry Dad!

Happy Birthday Annie!

Tonight's late night dialogue . . .

Sami, "We should fine Parker $5 for the used tissue on the bathroom floor!"
Kirby, "What about all your clothes on your bedroom floor?"
Parker, "You people are idiots!"
Hey all Choys!
Not much happening here in South FL, except for the Super Bowl this coming Sunday taking place in the recently renamed Sun Life Stadium not far from where we live. Ron was given 2 tickets to the game from one of his brokers, face value of $800.apiece, but unfortunately had to decline it, since he can't accept any gifts over $50. Bummer!! Oh well, we'll have fun anyway partying with friends during the game. Ron's been in London for business for a week, returning tomorrow, Sat., just in time for Super Bowl Sunday.
As for our little disabled beagle, Annie, she's doing very well. Turning 10 years old in a few more days. For the last year, she's been living totally outside her crate, even when we're gone, since she tried to gnaw her way out a few times and even got the lock open and got cut up pretty badly. So, we just decided to let her have the run of the house. Luckily, we have tile floors, so her occasional accidents aren't as bad to clean up. She actually does pretty well "holding" till we get home.
Anyway, hope you all have a great Valentine's and Happy Chinese New Year (found that these 2 celebrations share the same day)! Miss you all!! Lots of Love, Lynn or Auntie Lynn

Cait's Updates!

Hey family! This is our Choy Family blog! You can post new messages, add pictures and comment back on them! Here's an example of a post:

Things have been great for me at Loyola. I have an on-campus job (calling up alumi), I am an intern at a local New Orleans magazine company called Offbeat Magazine: Louisiana Music and Culture. Also, I am trying for a study abroad program with the English Department of Literature to go to Ireland during the summer!
Finally, here are some current pictures of me and my sorority sisters:
