Happy Anniversary Aunty Lynn and Uncle Ron!

This past Monday, August 9 was Lynn and Ron's 24rd wedding anniversary! Good job guys! Keep up the good work!

Ireland, Summer 2010

Hey everybody!

Ireland was amazing. I was there for about 4 weeks and stayed at Trinity College in Dublin. We were right in the city for the most part, but we did day trips/ tours etc. and two out of the 4 weekends we did trips to different parts of the island. The first time, we spend the weekend in Sligo, a more rural area, and then then next we were in Belfast (which is not part of the republic so they use pounds).

The trip had about 23 students, plus three Loyola professors and some of their families. (They also stayed at the college). There were four classes offered and you had to take two, making it a six credit program. Most of the students were English Literature/Writing majors. The classes I
took were, James Joyce as well as Religion, Narrative and Violence.

On a whole, it was pretty amazing and I definitely thought about just movi
ng there! The people were great, the Irish just love American girls! (Not American men - apparently they think they are too "fratty" or rowdy.) However, they thought that American girls are really cute and sassy and friendly - just my kinda place!

Anyway, I missed all of you so much! I really was upset I missed out on the reunion this year. It's always one of my favorite times of the year. But I hear that everyone had a good time at Kahala!

Here are some of my photos and photography! (For those of you who don't know I started doing some photography and got a Nikon D90 - my new baby.)

First Published Article!

I'm so excited guys! My internship at OffBeat Magazine has been amazing and I have been doing a lot of work with them over the last month. I have done several interviews and album reviews. The other night I did a concert review with one of the most popular rock/punk bands in the south, Better than Ezra. They are originally from New Orleans and graduated from LSU. The members are in or around their 40's and they have been playing for years. You may know some of their work, their huge single was "Desperately Wanting" and they wrote Howie Day's "Collide".

Here is a youtube link to their music:

Jai

Hi family,
This weekend I stepped in for Aunty Gayle and helped Gung Gung make Jai. I didn't realize how long the process takes. He took some Jai over to Choy-Lewis...an adorable lady who was overly THRILLED to receive this coveted masterpiece. She said she 'freezes it and relishes it throughout the year'. Gung Gung was just as tickled to share it with her while praising her famous split pea soup that she gives him. They couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the other is. According to Gung Gung (who is always right) they have been friends for over 50 years! It was one of the most heart touching encounters I've been a part of.

Hey All Choys!!
Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day and also a Gung Hee Fat Choy!! As dad (gunggung) would correctly tell us it's really "Gung Hee Sun Yin"!! Wish we were there to celebrate with you all! Ron and I will be going out with another couple tonight for Chinese New Year's dinner. We've become good friends with a number of Cait's high school classmates' parents. So, we'll be out with one of those classmates parents tonight. We occasionally get together with them all at least once a month. Hey! When you get to be our age, and you move around alot, you got to make friends wherever, whenever and however you can. :)
Take care! Love and Miss You All!!

SAINTS WIN SUPER BOWL!!!

The Saints won the 44th Superbowl last night! 31-17!!! Saints versus the Colts!

Some of my friends rented a Penthouse off of Burbon and my big sister in Delta Gamma, Monica, got her and I a separate hotel room to stay at nearby. People started getting rooms because all the cab companies were so hard to come by because major streets were closed down including St. Charles and Canal (two of the biggest in the city) and the police where stationed on every block. So we didn't want to worry about getting back to campus so late at night.

It was amazing, the city actually went crazy. There were people shoulder to shoulder all along Burbon, the French Quarter and everywhere in between. There were students from Tulane, Xavier, LSU and Loyola, and many Saints fans from all over the South as well as tourists from all over the country. Classes in local elementary schools, high school & Universities, where canceled this Monday and some on Tuesday. Even my work e-mailed all of us to not come in today (Monday) or tomorrow. Strangers were hugging all night, cross dressers ran around, men played trumpets and other instruments while walking around with boxes for money. It was an actual CITY celebration.
So since the major streets were on lock down, that meant that everyone was walking all over the place which resulted in a lot of fights and violence. This morning there was reported shootings resulting in 3 deaths. So yes, I mean the city went crazy.

But, the good news is we won, my friends and I are fine and I made it back to campus safe and sound this afternoon.
P.S. Sorry Dad!
